I have 2 children who both have aggessive acid reflux. I searched on google to find out if there was something i could do to control it. Most people say making the meals smaller and feeding more often hepls until they get out of this stage.

Pacifiers are great as long as mom and baby have established breastfeeding and there are no supply issues or sore nipples. Pacifiers (even the breastfeeding friendly ones) change the baby's latch and can cause nipple pain. Pacifiers also lessen the amount of time the baby spends on the mother's breast this directly effects the supply and demand aspect of breastmilk production. Dr. Sears has a great book that deals in depth with colic and all the possible causes and treatments.

i have read with great interest the comments on Gastro reflux in infants, and I would like to add my comments based upon similar a affliction, but in a senior instead of a child. My wife has suffered for a few years from reflux which showed up as a restriction in her esophagus after food. She would gag and then a burst of loud burp would occur and her mouth would fill with regurgitated food.
Doctors gave her medications and all kinds of treatments but the problem never went away totally. After several years we requested a complete allergy test and for this we were referred to a professor in the hope that he could resolve the problem. My wife took all the allergy tests and they came out with no conclusive answer, until finally it was suggested that my wife stayed off food containing Chicken or any chicken derivative. What an amazing change occured, my wife took about three weeks to show signs of improvement, and since then she has not included any form of chicken in her diet and has stayed reflux free. On the odd occasion when she believes that she is cured now, and is tempted with a nice roast chicken. Bang the trouble hits in again. Of course the ban on chicken hit me to because i couldn't sit in front of my wife enjoying a lovely roast chicken when she cannot have any. So i suppose we we are both benefiting from the ban.

Hope this helps someone with a young child who cannot tell you what the problem is or what they are feeling. My suggestion would be to try it for a month and see what happens.

Have a Happy day and Good Luck
